Icosahedrons

An Icosahedron is comprised of twenty equilateral triangles.

Icosahedron That Starts with Stellated Octahedron



  1. Start with a Stellated Octahedron
    1. Begin with a cube
    2. Use the line tool to connect corner to corner:
    3. Connect all corners:

    4. Delete all the edges of the original cube:
  2. Color the faces (you should have 8 colors)
  3. Select the entire model, press space bar and click on an edge. Select Intersect Faces>with Selection:
  4. Delete the 8 pyramids:
  5. Ctrl+click on a line and select Divide:

    Divide each segment into thirds.
  6. Using the line tool, divide the face like this:
  7. Continue dividing all the faces:

  8. Erase the pyramids and extra edges that are left because of dividing the lines into thirds:
  9. Using the line tool, connect the midpoints
  10. Continue connecting midpoints until you have the icosahedron
