Other Primary Structures

Introduction

Primary Structures: Younger American and British Sculptors was the 1966 Jewish Museum exhibit of International Sculpture from the 1960's that focused on young American and British artists. This survey show was the first to exhibit the style that is now known as Minimalism.

Other Primary Structures, curated by Jens Hoffmann, is a new exhibition that revisits the ideas of the Seminal 1966 Exhibition, while also reexamining the period from today's more global perspective. This exhibition will present sculpture from the 1960s by artists from Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, much of which has rarely been seen in the United States.
